Marisa - Downtown Kansas City

OK - so after trying to update the software for my photoblog, I screwed everything up last night. So now I am starting from scratch. I will be posting a few of my favorite shots from the past year on this website so that I can create a good base to continue showing my work. Thanks for checking this site and keep coming back to see what I have been up to. Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com/" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Sara - Lawrence, Kansas

<A href="http://www.fryflux.com/" target=_blank>Josh Fry</A> and I have been working on a project together. This was something that we shot after we wrapped up the shoot while we were in Lawrence, Kansas a couple of months back. I found her outfit with the boots to be a perfect match for this setting. I loved the old beat up truck in the background as well. The pose was a fun/playful and I think the colors work well with this photo.
Jessalyn - Downtown Kansas City

This was shot in downtown Kansas City a couple of weeks ago with the lovely <A href="http://www.modeljessalyn.com/" target=_blank>Jessalyn</A>. Everything about this shoot clicked, from the sun coming out from behind the clouds at the right time, to her outfit and the rust color of the rail road beams. I flattened the color out in Photoshop to neutralize it a bit. I am very happy with the results and have a ton of photos from this shoot. I am having a hard time picked out my favorites.
Marisa - Rock Star

The concept behind this shoot was to create a strung out rock star look. This was the result and I really liked how this turned out. We started shooting a lot of shot of her on a cell phone with angry expressions. It started looking a bit like the paparazzi which is something that I didn't want to happen. We kept working and this is what came out of it. This was before we realized that she locked her key to her dance studio in the building. That's just one of those things that happen in our lives.
Katie - Lawrence, Kansas

There is no place on Earth like the wonderful city of Lawrence, Kansas - Well.....maybe Hawaii. I might be bias but I love that town and anytime I can get back up there I jump in my car and hit the road. This is Katie, she is basically awesome! I can not say much more because she was so easy to work with and we captured a ton of great photos - this being one of them. This was shot with a fish eye lens, 10.5mm on a Nikon D2X. Katie did a wonderful job, despite the fact that before our shoot she left her keys in the car while it was running. I have a previous blurb about keys being locked in a building in a previous thread.
Orlando, Florida Shoot

I do not know why I am posting this photograph. While in Orlando, Florida I took this during a shoot. I do not have any meaning behind it, but I wanted to create something with horizontal and parallel lines through it. My white balance was set to fluorescent when it should of been set to something a lot warmer. I tweaked the colors a bit and was happy with how this looked. The basic premise of this shoot was of a man who operated the sound and video mixers at a church in Orlando, Florida.
Fresno, California

I absolutely love old beat up crap. The older and more ran down it is the more I dig it. Found this while walking around downtown Fresno after a shoot one day a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure what it was/is but the back of this warehouse had quite a few of these old door ways that were decrepit and not maintained. The crazy thing is I think that the stores in the front of the building might still be using them for some reason. I will post a few more photographs of this series in a couple of days.
Seattle, Washington

I was digging around looking for a photograph and I stumbled upon this. When I was on a shoot in Seattle I had some time to walk around and check the town out as I try to do when I travel for business (all within walking distance, only covering a couple city blocks of course.) I found this parking garage and really like the look and feel of it so I took a couple quick shots while shooting from the curb. The grey overcast sky muted the colors of this painted metal which worked well with the grey of the pavement. I walked away with this shot happy and have now posted it on my photoblog after it sat on the shelf for a couple of months. I did manage to go and visit <A href="http://www.jimihendrix.com//" target=_blank>Jimi Hendrix's </A>grave while I was in Seattle just before we went to the airport. If you ever make it up to Seattle, try and make a trip to check out his grave. He was a legend of his time. And don't forget to have a cup of coffee while you are in Sea-town.
Interstate I-35 - Olathe, Kansas

Again as you can tell I really like gritty subjects in my camera's frame. This shot was taken from a bridge overlooking I-35 in Olathe, Kansas a couple of weeks ago. The main shoot was dealing with traffic but at this moment I was shooting through the fence, no vehicles where in the frame. I really pushed the contrast on this photograph to bring out the slabs of concrete that make up the highway system on I-35. After doing this, the subject almost becomes something different. Personally I think it starts to look like an abstract image which are only held together by the vertical lines in the road. My favorite part of this photo is the lower right hand corner and how the bridge intersects all of the lines running north and south.
Fresno, California

Found this while walking behind an old building in downtown Fresno, California. It was an exterior light socket that had fallen down. The old rusted nails are still in place where it was hung. I wonder how old it was? Every time I have hung a light bulb I use screws and not a hammer and nails. Was this a cheaper way of putting it up? Things that I think about while shooting and reflecting on these photographs. Again - beat up old crap that always seems to find its way in front of my camera.
Corporate Building - North Kansas City, Missouri

I was on the fence about posting this photograph. I like how the lines run North and South with an intersection on the right hand side. I pushed the colors in Photoshop and was trying to make it look like I didn't. Different computer monitors read it different I guess. I don't have much to say about this one other than the fact that I was leaving this building from a shoot I did and decided to stick around a take a couple frames of this structure. No biggie, just something mellow for a Monday evening.
Jessalyn - Kansas City, Missouri

This is <A href="http://www.modeljessalyn.com/" target=_blank>Jessalyn</A>. We shot this under a railroad bridge in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri a few weeks back. I have not gotten outside to shoot in a while due to the weather and I am feeling a bit itchy. I shot this with a Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 lens. It has become my favorite lens in my bag. For some reason, everyone from my former teachers to what I read about says not to use a fisheye lens for portraits, I say screw that. I love the distorted look that it gives to the subject and how much of the setting gets captured in the photograph. When I shoot with the 17-35mm lens, I feel constrained now and have to go wider with my shots. I still shoot with every lens in my camera bag while on assignment, but the fish eye is my favorite at the moment. Who knows, maybe in a couple weeks I will hate it and move onto a longer lens.
Red Rock Canyon - Las Vegas, Nevada

This is my feeble attempt at a landscape photograph. When I first started learning to use my camera about 8-9 years ago I was constantly shooing landscapes, sunsets and graveyards. Since then I have moved on from shooting landscapes and started photographing people. Switching over to human beings has made me become bored looking at landscapes. I wanted to shake it up a little bit so tried this approach to see how it would turn out. I feel bad because I dwarfed the beautiful mountains next to the sky but I like how low the horizon line is in this photo. Sometimes I don't even bother shooting landscapes knowing that no matter how bad ass of a photographer anyone is, they will never be able to capture the exact moment on film. Sometimes it is better to put the camera down and take it all in. Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com/" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Red Rock - Las Vegas, Nevada

Second installment of what I like to call "landscape photography" I do not shoot many landscapes so when I do I try to give them a spin. Here I simply blurred the photograph and using the history brush in Photoshop, brought back the mountains. Looks kinda weird but I dig it. Nothing major, just something I thought looked fun to do. Shot this at Red Rock in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Beth Horn - Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas Nevada

This is <A href="http://www.bethhorn.com/" target=_blank>Beth Horn</A> one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. We were out in Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon doing a commercial shoot while I snapped this photograph. The scene was great, the sun was setting on the mountains while Beth read through her lines, coyotes (or something) were howling from the desert and the temprature was dropping. For those of you who do not know who Beth A. Horn is - she is a Professional Fitness Competitor / Model / Personal Trainer etc... She is all about fitness and it shows. Beth is a very down to earth and is a lot of fun to hang around with. It was a pleasure getting to work with her on this project. On a side note - after the shoot was done, all of the crew and Beth were hanging out waiting for the rest of the people to show up from a hike that they went on. Little did we know that the park locks the gates at 5:00pm. To make a long story short, we were locked in the park in our bad ass mini-van rental until someone finally let us out. Everyone had a laugh after all was said and done but for a few minutes we thought we were going to have to camp out at Red Rock Canyon until someone let us out. We finally got out, went to dinner and will never forget this little incident at Red Rock. Again - Beth is an awesome girl and I wish her the best of luck with her career.
Raul - Under the bridge

Shot this for a client a couple of weeks back. This is <A href="http://" target=_blank>Raul.</A> He is working on dropping a new album soon and asked me if I would be interested in working with him to get his album art work together. We shot for a couple of hours in the studio and also shot in downtown Kansas City, Missouri area. We got some great photos from the shoot that I had posted on my older photoblog before it crashed. I will be sure to post a few other shots in the next couple of posts on this blog so stop back by and check it out. Raul is a house/club/dance singer who is just getting his start in the industry. Keep any ear out for him on the club scene, he is going to blow up.
I shot this and pieced it it together for out print department at work. It is based off of a popular Sopranos photo. I received many compliments/comments on this piece so I thought I would share it on my photoblog. Each individual photo was shot using a one light - top down unfiltered light source - and used photoshop to place all of the layers together. I few tweaks here and there and it came together.
Surgical Technologist

This was shot a few months ago and wanted to re-post it. I had it running on my old photoblog and since that was deleted I thought I would throw it up here again. It feels like surgery even though it was in a classroom at one of the schools campuses here in Kansas City. The photo was lit by the lamps from above with light bouncing off of the dummy/mannequin that the students/doctors were operating on. (Yes I just used two slashes in the same sentence.) Nothing else more to say about this other than I was happy with how it turned out. The editorial style works well with this advertisement, shows people what they would be doing if they went into this program.
Reading a newspaper

I had an idea. I wanted to sillouhete a figure reading a newspaper. I was happy with the results but I do not like the plain background. I think this would of worked better if it were in a scene at a coffee shop or something of this nature. Anyways here it is, I had it posted on my old photo blog before it got messed up. Sean was nice enough to stand in for this test shoot that I did at work so stop by one of his many sites and check out his work. Click - <A href="http://seanblog.com/" target=_blank>Seanblog</A> - <A href="http://seancorcoran.net" target=_blank>Seancorcoran.net </A>- <A href="http://www.surefootage.com" target=_blank>surefootage</A> - <A href="http://www.snarbles.com" target=_blank>snarbles</A>. Maybe if we are nice to Sean he will draw a <A href="http://www.snarbles.com" target=_blank>snarble</A> with a camera and I can post it on this site.
Culinary Salad in St. Louis, Missouri

Walking through a kitchen during a photo shoot in St. Louis, I passed this shiny metal bowl of greens and decided to stop and shoot a few frames of this. I do not know if this was going to be thrown into something that the student chef was cooking, or if it was some fancy type of salad. Whatever it was it drew my attention for some reason and after revisiting this photograph I decided to post it here to share with all of you. (Who ever you are, I have no clue who you people are so leave me a message below and let me know your name are and how you found this site!) I want to warn you and tell you that I did not desaturated the color out of the left side of the photo. I hate that technique and think it is very cliche and overused in the wedding and senior photography markets. If you like the way this looks, try using fluorescent lighting and tweak your white balance in camera and in <A href="http://www.photographersdirectory.adobe.com/profile.aspx?pid=4797&amp;gid={ef6d8ce6-9e43-427b-86c1-f6e0ac315dee}&amp;type=simple&amp;name=lindberg&amp;page=1&amp;country=int&amp;language=en&amp;billing=&amp;bridge=&amp;stockphotosURL=no/" target=_blank>Adobe Photoshop</A> - yes this is a shameless plug!
Fitness - Las Vegas, Nevada

After shooting this photograph, I looked at it on the back of the camera and thought that I loved everything about this. When I got back to Kansas City, I looked at it on my computer monitor and wasn't very happy with how it turned out. 4 weeks went by and after revisiting this photo, I realized that I really did like it. I believe that I enjoy this photograph so much is because it feels like it was something that I do not normally shoot. Not the subject matter, but composition and framing of the objects. I do not know how to explain it but I feel that I did something outside of the box with my photography. It is not that great of a photograph but something inside my mind and camera found something new. It is very difficult to explain in writing so I am going to shut up now and let you decide what you think about it. By the way, this was shot in Las Vegas Nevada during a fitness camp I shot while I was out in Sin City.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas

For the next ten days I will be posting photographs that I took on March 13th, 2007. I traveled 5 minutes by car to downtown, Olathe, Kansas to work on a few photographs. The idea that was given to shoot was "Texture." I do not think that I have been on a texture hunt since I was in college so I thought this would be interesting concept to shoot, little did I know that I would have found some very interesting thinks along my 40 minute excursion. (I know that it was 40 minutes because I checked the metadata, of the photos - first one was taken at 1:37pm and the last one that I will be posting was snapped at 2:17pm) Do not forget to stop by each day for the next 10 days as I will be posting a new photograph each day until Friday March 23rd, 2007. Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 2

Part 2 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." I saw this beat up old wooden sign and knew that it would make a cool shot that I would like to post on my photoblog. This was a no parking sign in downtown Olathe, Kansas near some shops that I parked in back of. The cracking of the paint and wood really drew me into this shot. Plus the contrast of the lettering with the faded out white background made a nice juxtaposition of light verses dark.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 3

Part 3 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." Two signs, side by side with 2 completely different results from the weather. It is hard to say how long these signs have been here, but by the looks of the rusted bolts at the bottom of the sign, I would say that they were put in place at the same time. It is interesting to see how both signs have worn down while being attached on the same poll under the same tree near the same building. I guess if I were a sign maker I would look into the metal sign on the left and wonder why it has done better than its neighbor on the right. The one of the right is more interesting with it cracks and grittiness!
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 4

Part 4 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." This is a simple photo, nothing special about the subject, just that the light made me stop and photograph it. What really drew me into this was the way that the light fell on the two different materials on the entry way and the play on the shadows. I do not have much to say about this other than it was something that I liked and wanted to include this photo into this set of photographs that I shot in Olathe, Kansas.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 5

Part 5 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." Now that the sun has been out longer and the weather has risen above 30 degrees, the grass it starting to get some green coloring in it here in Kansas. Even though the green is not at its full punch, it has enough in it to create a nice compliment to the red brick on the sidewalk in downtown Olathe. It still looks muted but it is better than the brown coloring that consumes the grass during the winter months. Spring is close, time to start shooting portraits outside again soon!!!
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 6

Part 6 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." This is not exactly a texture shot, at least what drew me into it was not the texture. What made me stop and aim my camera was the shiny metal of the street signs verses the blus sky. The refletive lights off of the metal gave me enough light make a 2-3 stops differnece in my exposure wich helped in creating the nice blue sky. This is probably one of my favorite shots from the day, no particular reason why but it is.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 7

Part 7 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." Again - I do not think this photograph goes along with the original idea of "texture" which was the main idea going into this shoot in Olathe, Kansas. I did see this bland looking building while walking the streets and enjoyed how uniform the windows and floors created a pattern of glass and concrete. It really reminded me of Led Zeppelin's <A href="http://www.amazon.com/Physical-Graffiti-Led-Zeppelin/dp/B000002JSN" target=_blank>Physical Graffiti </A>album cover. This was the first thing that popped in my head when looking through the lens. The street light is an element that I am fond of. Its not overbearing and blends into the windows but to me it stands out. Keep checking back, Friday will be the last installment of this series of my work.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 8

Part 8 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." My favorite photo from this shoot. I can not explain it but this is my favorite photo from this series. The juxtaposition of nature verses the buildings. The light verses shadow, red brick verses white wall verses Tree. Everything about this was enjoyable to photograph. This photograph is more of conceptual thought and not a good photograph. I will not market this photo, not even post it anywhere else on my websites. I most likley will not make a print of this. But this one is a personal favorite, it will be one of the photos that will stick with me for a long time.
40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas - Part 9

Part 9 of "40 Minutes in Downtown Olathe, Kansas." This is a cross walk that I happen to take a photograph of. I snapped 3 or 4 shots of the lines in the street before moving on with my escapade. I didn't really think about how this looked or how it would turn out, I just sort of shot it and moved on. After my initial editing process I found that I really liked this. What stuck out to me was the shadow from the street light that crosses into the middle of the photograph. Just to let you know this is the second to last photo from this series that I will post. Friday will be the last day!!! This is the last post from this series that I will be posting here on my <A href="http://www.photokidblog.com" target=_blank>photoblog</A>. For the past 10 days I have introduced a new photograph each day for you to take a look at what I shot while in downtown Olathe, Kansas on 3-14-2007. Again all of the posts from this shoot were to get textures and this is what developed. This was one of the last frames that I took before heading back to the office to upload the photos. Thanks for taking a look at this and continue to see what I will be posting in the next couple of days. Let me know what you think about these.
I posted this on my previous blog and while digging through my files this weekend I found it again and wanted to repost it on my new blog. Some of my work has ended up one a bus out there in California and if anyone is out in San Diego and happens to see this bus, can you take a photo of it either with your cell phone or if you have a camera and send it to me at aaron@aaronlindberg.com - I want to see what this looks like in action.
Stuffed Animals

This photograph use to be on my main website at <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>www.aaronlindberg.com</A>. I took it down when I redesigned the website and felt that I should revisit this photo and make sure that I still show it off. This was a lot of fun to shoot, she brought in 2 large trash bags full of stuffed animals. We threw them on the floor and laid her on top of them for this shoot. I shot this with 2 softboxes from the top. The light on the right was about 3/4 of a stop brighter than the other to create more side light. The photograph holds a lot of color which I really like plus the cuteness/playfulness is something that I was set on creating. Sometimes it is hard to create something exactly as I see it shaping in my head but this one is very close to what I imagined it.
Downtown Washington, D.C.

Something about this photo made me post it on my photoblog and I really do not know why. This is way out of the norm for my shooting style. I can not explain it but it is so straight on that it almost makes me sick looking at it, yet at the same time I love it. I took this photograph inside a restaurant of the hotel I was staying at in downtown Washington, DC. It was snowing and we were killing time before we left to catch our flight back home. The scene was a little bit warmer than depicted here, I remember the stone of the building across the street was a bit brownish but I tweaked this in <A href="http://www.photographersdirectory.adobe.com/profile.aspx?pid=4797&amp;gid={ef6d8ce6-9e43-427b-86c1-f6e0ac315dee}&amp;type=simple&amp;name=lindberg&amp;page=1&amp;country=int&amp;language=en&amp;billing=&amp;bridge=&amp;stockphotosURL=no/" target=_blank>Photoshop</A> to cool it off and create a somber/cold look to it.
Downtown Shoot

I finally got to get outside and start photographing in downtown Kansas City again now that it has been nicer weather. It felt good to be downtown shooting again, I feel that this is my playground. The urban look and feel mixed with the human for is a favorite subject that I can not get enough of. I found a new, fun little website called Tumblr.com. Take a look at my page on that site - <A href="http://aaronlindberg.tumblr.com/" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg Tumblr</A> and let me know what you think about it. Basically it is a blurb website that hosts really quick bit of randomness.
Bodybuilder - Jay Cutler

I have had the pleasure of meeting <A href="http://www.jaycutler.com" target=_blank>Jay Cutler</A> on several occasions. For those of you who do not know who he is, let me throw these out there. IFBB 2006 Mr. Olympia, IFBB 2002, 2003 &amp; 2004 Arnold Classic Champion and IFBB 2001, 2003, 2004 &amp; 2005 Mr. Olympia Runner Up. Basically Jay Cutler is this years <A href="http://www.mrolympia.com" target=_blank>Mr. Olympia</A>, or the man who now holds one of the highest honors in professional bodybuilding. The dude is freaking large, I do not know his measurements but I am sure that when he is walking down the street people get out of the way. Mr. Cutler is a very nice man and in the same breath I would not mess with him because he could break you in half without blinking. I decided to post a photograph that I took of Jay Cutler at his house in Las Vegas, Nevada during one of our shoots over the past year. Jay has graced dozens of bodybuilding magazines, probably to many to keep track of. I bet if you flipped through one today you would find a couple of references to him in the pages. I tweaked the colors and bumped up the contrast in this photograph, I wanted to create something with a gritty look to it.
Mud Volleyball Tournament

While digging through some old files that I shot, I ran across an old portfolio that I had put together while shooting editorial / photojournalism style. This was an assignment that I shot for the Kansas City Star a couple of years back. A high school in Missouri puts on this mud volleyball tournament as a fundraiser. It was a lot of fun shooting this, they made a couple of courts at a lake up north by digging up the dirt and filling it in with water. Needless to say it was a mess. I am sure the kids had a good time while doing something good for the community. I will be posting a few other photos from this portfolio soon so check back for the updates. Starting from the top left going clockwise - Diana Krall, The Strokes, Social Distortion and Keb' Mo'. A little bit of everything. Everything but country, I can not stand country music!
Dental teeth

I am very fond of this photo. I had it in my portfolio while I was shooting editorial work. I dug it up and posted it here for all 3 of you to see. This set of huge teeth were in the dental office while on assignment for a profile of a dentist in Kansas City so I thought it would be cool to shoot through them. What do you think about this??? Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg.</A>

Early Morning Football

Shooting low with a wide angle lens at about 6:30am is what it took to make this photograph. I had an assignment to shoot the first practice of the season a couple of years ago for a newspaper I was freelancing for. This were two high school seniors and I believe if memory serves - they were the captains of their football team. The kids were running defensive drills and I placed the camera on the ground and tilted it upward below the football players. I was very happy with how this silhouette turned out. This was another photograph that I have in my editorial portfolio.
Automobile Show

This was something I shot a while back from a car show in Kansas City. I was shooting this on assignment for the Kansas City Star when I was freelancing for them. I lined up this photograph and out of the blue this father and son walked up and started looking at this old automobile. It framed up perfectly, with the entire front of the car and the element of the two figures looking in the window. I walked away from this shoot with a nice colorful shot that shows an editorial side of this car show.
Young Eagles Flight

When I worked for local newspapers I got to do some pretty cool things. This was one of them that stood out over everything else. The assignment was to photograph an event in Kansas City called "Young Eagles" which takes kids on free flying rides. I got lucky and showed up for the last round before a storm blew in stopping the event. This little dude rode shotgun and while up in the air I tried to show both him and how high up we were in a Piper Airplane. I love flying, I wish I would buckle down and get a pilots licence. This is definitely something I need to do!!!
Motorcycle mechanic

This was from a series of motorcycle shots that I created a couple of months ago. It is a basic silhouette shot of a motorcycle mechanic looking like he is repairing a bike. I like the colors that I got from this shot. The sun was setting and time was running out on the shoot so in the final frames I decided to shoot low and wide to get this photograph. I know this is not exactly thinking outside of the box but there are a lot of elements that I like with this photo. The light was bright enough to wrap around the motorcycle and brought in just enough light to see the bike without making it completely black from my exposure. The client was interested in creating something for their print ads to bring student through the door. I hope this worked for them.
Overworked Photoshop Golf Photo

I felt like destroying a photo in Adobe Photoshop so I started with this golf photo I took in Las Vegas while covering a golf tournament. Not wanting to completely shred the photograph and still keep some dignity with my work I figured this golf shot with a mountain in it would work. The setting was overcast just before a big rain in Las Vegas. An eerie yellowish light was filling the golf course and falling on all of the white collar workers who partake in said event. I pushed this mid-tones, dropped the highlights and opened up the shadows while tweaking the color in post. I also sharpened this with a large radius smart sharp in Photoshop. Just something else to add to this blog to try and keep people coming back, hope it doesn't drive you away seeing this overworked photoshop file.
Before Curtain

I had the opportunity to photograph a dance company here in Kansas City <A href="http://www.reachkc.org/" target=_blank>Reach...a movement collective inc </A>. a couple of weekends back. I decided I wanted to create something different than the performers putting on makeup or getting ready for the performance. Instead I placed my camera on the ground and focused on a few of the dancers warming up and stretching before the curtain rose. The composition on this is very top heavy but I do like how the light falls on the foot, something that drew me into this while shooting. After you are done reading this, hop on over to my new website <A href="http://www.kcdrama.com" target=_blank>KCDrama.com</A>.which features some of my performing arts from past assignments from Kansas City and surrounding areas.
Daddry Shield - Band photo shoot

I had the opportunity to work with a local band <A href="http://www.myspace.com/daddryshield" target=_blank>Daddry Shield</A> a couple of weeks ago in the studio. They were looking for a photo shoot to promote the band through print and websites. I tweaked this photo a lot in Photoshop using a blue overtone to create something darker. I hate using that word but it will have to do. I also like gritty looking photos as you can tell perusing through my photoblog. So I pushed this photo until it almost broke, it very well could be broken in your eyes but I like the look of this shot. The best part of this photo to me is the drummer dude second from the right peaking over the shoulder of the guitarist, my favorite part!
Found these teenagers jumping off this cliff on the island of Oahu in Hawaii while on vacation. They asked me for money to jump off the cliff but I told them I would send them a photo of the kids in action instead and them agreed. As soon as I checked my email after the shoot I had in my inbox an email from one of the kids named Josh. I promptly emailed a photo to them for letting me photograph them while they jumped off the cliff.
Part 2 of 2. After photographing them off from a distance, I got closer to them and shot from above. This is one of the photos that I have from a set of two teenagers jumping off this cliff on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I really like how this kid looks with his pose and the way that the ocean seems so far down from where he is. I wish that I had this photo wider but I was already at 17mm on my Nikon.
Kauai, Hawaii on Poipu Beach

Walking along Poipu Beach in Kauai, Hawaii and I see the moon hidden behind the clouds. I found a rock and posted my Nikon D200 on it trying to keep it level and hold it still. I folded the neck strap under the lens to even it out and set an exposure of about 15 seconds for this image. I wish I had a tripod with me to bring my ISO/ASA down on the camera to remove some of the digital noise but I had to do what I could with what I had. I snapped a few shots of and posted this photo after a few tweaks in photoshop.
Hawaiian Palm Trees

Everyone who travels to Hawaii snaps at least one photo of the palm trees in Hawaii right? I saw this while we were on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. We were driving away from the North Shore on Oahu and I wanted to take another peak at this bay right off the highway before we left the area. I thought this was going to turn into a different photo when I looked at the area. After taking a few quick shots I lined this up and now it is in front of you. I really like this shot, so much in fact that it is my desktop on my computer.
Wide Angle Photo Shoot

This photo was shot using only a reflector and a 10.5mm fisheye lens...and a little bit of photoshop (but not much.)
The photo came out looking like a lifestyle shoot but that was not the intention. I do like everything about this from the smiling subjects to the color to the overall look and feel. By the way if you are reading this, check out my profile on <A href="http://aaronlindberg.deviantart.com/" target=_blank>Deviant Art</A>. And as always, thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Hand

This was something I did back in college for an assignment. It is a photograph of my hand with the obvious photoshop work done to it. I found this while going through an old portfolio and through I would place this online and see what you all think of it. This piece was in a art show my final year at the University of Kansas in the great town of Lawrence. Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Hawaii Ocean Part 2

Part 2 of a series I am posting on Monday. Surfers on the Pacific Ocean in Kauai, Hawaii. I don't know what to call this, maybe landscape? I like the position of everything in the frame but I do not like when I shoot wide open shots how I have to crop in camera. When I shoot with a fisheye it helps but it is still frustrating. I guess that is why I am not a landscape photographer!!!
Part 1 of a series I am posting on Monday. Surfers on the Pacific Ocean in Kauai, Hawaii. I don't know what to call this, maybe landscape? I love shooting wide angle, the wider the better. My favorite part of this photograph is the surfer dude getting ready to jump into the ocean and start surfing. I am jealous of him!
Katie - Lawrence Kansas

I reposted this photo on my website after looking around for a few other shots to post onto it. This was shot in the great town of Lawrence, Kansas where I lived for 6 years and miss it very much. The model is Katie, a girl I shot with last summer. We did a shoot near the river and I used at 10.5mm lens to shoot this with an on camera flash to bring down the background a few stops. I dig it.
James Carville - New Orleans, Louisiana

I was at an event a couple weeks ago and the keynote speaker happened to be &lt;A href="<A href="http://www.carville.info/">http://www.carville.info/</A>" target=_blank&gt;James Carville&lt;/A&gt; - A.K.A. I by no means posted this to create any political views or to broadcast my views on any issue with this post.
Street Scene - New Orleans, Louisiana

Found this monotone scene while walking around New Orleans, Louisiana while I was on a shoot down there. The only photoshop i did to this was bringing the contrast up a bit. The tone of the buildings and the tone of the street lamp where as is. I thought it looked clean with a hint of color.
Phoenix Wall - Phoenix Arizona

Walking around after a shoot while out in Phoenix, Arizona I found this interesting wall that for some reason had razor wire atop of it. Not sure what the business on the other side of the wall was but they obviously did not want anyone on that side of it. Regardless of the reason for the extra protection, the sun was hitting the wall full blast and created enough light to bring down my exposure to make the sky a nice blue color. Nothing much else to say about this photo, it was just something I found walking around in Phoenix a couple weeks ago.
I recently found out that a story of mine has been selected to appear in this months issue of Studio Photography.
Rural gravel road in Lawrence, Kansas

Shot this while setting up for a photo shoot in Lawrence, Kansas this past weekend.
Katie - Rural Dirt Road

Something I shot this past weekend in Lawrence, Kansas. I really liked how this turned out. We drove out to a rural road outside of Lawrence, Kansas to look for the perfect dirt road. After driving over a huge hill and finding a dead end I knew we have a good spot without a lot of traffic that would kick dust up. This was shot in the evening around 6pm with a nice golden light from the West falling onto her.
A couple weeks ago we had a mustache contest at work. The rules were that you had two weeks to grow a mustache and have them ready on Friday.
I had a photo shoot last weekend for a local woman who makes these really cool purses. This was shot on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.
Billy Doores - Country Music

First off, I am not a huge fan of Country music. I was asked by the drummer of <A href="http://www.myspace.com/billydooresband" target=_blank>Billy Doores</A> to shoot a recent concert in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I really enjoy shooting concerts, live shows or basically anything that has to do with music. I agreed to shoot it and was granted full access which was great because I could crawl on stage or go up to the balcony - basically I had free reign of the place. This was something shot from back of the stage towards the lead singer while on stage. I was lucky to catch one of the lights hitting the hat from the side to create this nice lopsided lighting. I dig it! Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Not sure if I like the new look or not...Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Junky Munky Clothes

Something I shot last month for a local Kansas City clothing line <A href="http://junky-munky.com/" target=_blank>Junky Munky</A>. This was a fun shoot near the end of spring/beginning of fall in down town Kansas City. More photos can be found at their website.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 1

These next few posts will be a 7 part series from recent photo shoots for a beauty school client. I liked them enough to post on my PhotoBlog and wanted to share them with all of you. I tagged along with a video crew who I shot next to while recording video. This scene was shot while on location in Olathe, KS. Thanks for checking this out - Kansas City Photographer <A href="http://www.aaronlindberg.com" target=_blank>Aaron Lindberg</A>.

Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 2

Part 2 in a series of 7 from recent photo shoots for a beauty school client. I tagged along with a video crew who I shot next to while recording video. This scene was shot while on location in Olathe, KS. It was set up to showcase a model type female who was working with a makeup artist between shoots, sort of a behind the scenes clip.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 3

Part 3 of 7 from the Beauty School photo shoot. The video crew set up a mock runway for this shoot and it turned out great. Throw in a couple of extras and you have a fashion show type setting. I really like this shot, it has an editorial look and feel to it even though everything was staged.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 4

Part 4 of 7 from the Beauty School photo shoot. This photo is one of my favorites from the shoot because of it's depth of field. I have to move fast when working with a video crew since everything is in constant motion. Luckily I had 7 years of journalistic work under my belt which taught me how to move fast and stay out of the way.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 5

Part 5 of 7 from the beauty school photo shoot. This was a shot that was spliced into the final video. It might not make sense just by looking at it as a single frame, but when put into motion and edited into the final cut it looks really good.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 6

Part 6 of 7 from the Beauty School photo shoot. This was part of a runway that was set up for the video shoot. Unfortunatly the client decided agaist the entire runway scene so it went bye-bye.
Beauty School Photo Shoot Part 7

When setting this series up on my photoblog, I completely forgot that it will be presented in reverse. So the numbers will now go from 7 to 1 and not 1 to 7. Having said that here is the first frame or 7th photo (ya that makes sense, right?) in this beauty series. Lots of hair spray, make up, blow drying, cutting and primping went into these photos. I want you to remember that these photos were shot along side a video crew for a commercial that was pieced together so they might not flow as well as if they were by themselves. Check out <A href="http://kyleharbaugh.com/" target=_blank>Kyle Harbaugh's</A> website to get a feel of how the video looks. He has some great work on his website that he has posted. Maybe this video will be up soon on his site.
